Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the drm/xe component where the system fails to reject page faults from non-fault-mode scratch VMs. Allowing scratch VMs through the ASID (Address Space Identifier) lookup also permits dma-fence mode VMs. If such a VM triggers a fault on an already valid VMA (Virtual Memory Area), the handler reports success without actually fixing the fault, which leads to the GPU retrying the operation indefinitely.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
