Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the ptp netc component where the max period bound in the net timer enable perout() function is computed in a way that can exceed U32 MAX. This leads to a situation where a period ns value exceeding U32 MAX is silently truncated when stored in the struct netc pp::period field. If the truncated value is zero, it can reach the netc timer set perout alarm() function, causing a divide-by-zero error in roundup u64(delta, period) when the stime < min time branch is executed. Furthermore, the netc timer enable periodic pulse() and netc timer enable fiper() functions may experience an unsigned wraparound when pp->period is zero, resulting in the mis-programming of the FIPER hardware register.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
