Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An off-by-one page overflow exists in the ntfs decompress() function. The issue occurs because the range check allows dp addr to equal dp sb end, causing the symbol copy operation *dp addr++ = *cb++ to write one byte beyond the destination page. Because the destination is a single page, this byte is written into the adjacent page, preventing the page from being finalized and leading to a bounded run of out-of-bounds writes when a corrupted compressed $DATA attribute is read.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
