Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A flaw exists in the
ublk shmem remove ranges() function where a teardown retry loop can occur due to an xarray allocation failure. The function attempts to store ranges into a temporary xarray using xa store() with GFP ATOMIC while holding the maple tree lock. If this allocation fails before the mas erase() operation, the range remains in the tree and the helper returns false, causing the outer ublk shmem remove ranges() loop to immediately retry the same range. This results in a lack of forward progress in the teardown path as long as the atomic allocation continues to fail.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
