Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An out-of-bounds access occurs in the Squashfs filesystem when a negative block offset is read from the disk, such as the offset into a decompressed fragment block. This issue is triggered within the squashfs copy data() function. Exploitation requires a specially crafted Squashfs filesystem and CAP SYS ADMIN privileges to mount it; however, once mounted, an unprivileged user can trigger the access by reading the crafted file.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
