Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the btrfs filesystem where the btrfs read merkle tree page() function may identify a folio in the mapping that is not uptodate. The system incorrectly treats this state as a read error and returns -EIO, which can cause transient read failures to persist. Consequently, subsequent callers encounter the not-uptodate folio and fail instead of retrying the read. This occurs when a failed read leaves a not-uptodate folio in the mapping.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
