Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the
arm pmuv3 component of the perf subsystem where the hw id branch stack field is not properly initialized. Although PERF SAMPLE BRANCH HW INDEX is supported by the Branch Record Buffer Extension (BRBE), the BRBE driver fails to set the hw id before passing it to userspace. This results in the field containing uninitialized data instead of being zeroed as required for architectures where raw branch records are stored in age order.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
