Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the ARM architecture implementation where interrupts may remain disabled when unhandled user faults are triggered. This occurs when
do DataAbort() or do PrefetchAbort() triggers a fault—indicated by inf->fn() returning a non-zero value—and interrupts are not enabled within the hook function. Consequently, force sig fault() is called while interrupts are disabled, which violates the requirements of PREEMPT RT (a real-time patch set for the Linux kernel) that mandates interrupts be enabled when sending signals. This state can be triggered by user programs executing the bkpt instruction when the kernel is configured with CONFIG PERF EVENTS=n.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
