Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the amba-pl011 serial driver where the
pl011 console write atomic() function is called from an atomic context that prohibits sleeping. The function invokes clk enable(), which acquires the enable lock of the common-clk. On kernels using PREEMPT RT, this lock can cause the system to sleep during contention, leading to a kernel bug when an atomic-context printk is executed on Arm32 and arm64 DT SoCs. Additionally, write atomic() may be called from NMI (Non-Maskable Interrupt) context, where acquiring the enable lock is unsafe. This occurs because the clock is gated between writes instead of remaining enabled while the console is available for output.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
