Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An alignment fault occurs in the Linux kernel when processing MSA ramdumps on WCN3990/SNOC devices using arm64 architecture. The ath10k msa dump memory() function utilizes a plain memcpy() to copy the MSA region, which is mapped with devm memremap(MEMREMAP WT). Because this mapping is not Normal-cacheable on arm64, the optimized pi memcpy generic implementation triggers an alignment fault (FSC=0x21) during wide or unaligned loads. This issue manifests within the ath10k snoc fw crashed dump() function while collecting the devcoredump, resulting in a kernel crash and failure to capture the firmware RAM dump, which subsequently disrupts modem SSR recovery.
Recommendations Replace the use of memcpy() with memcpy fromio() within the ath10k msa dump memory() function to ensure valid device-memory mapping accesses.
