Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the mt7996 driver within the mt76 wifi subsystem. During a full chip reset, the mt7996 vif link add() function fails to re-create necessary records in the firmware and does not re-register the link wcid because the link id remains marked in mvif->valid links. This results in the device becoming inoperative. Additionally, the reset path causes a leak of allocated MLD (Multi-Link Device) indices, as per-link, per-vif group, and remap indices are re-allocated without clearing the old bits in the masks, eventually exhausting the index space after repeated resets.
Recommendations Clear valid links in the reset vif iterator and reset the MLD index masks during the omac mask clearing process.
