Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the scx hardlockup() function where the abort process was deferred to an irq work because the exit claiming process previously required scx sched lock, which could not run from a Non-Maskable Interrupt (NMI). This deferral could lead to unrecoverable self-detected cases where the perf watchdog fires on a hard-locked CPU, as queued irq work does not run while interrupts are disabled. Additionally, the function incorrectly returned %true whenever sched ext was loaded, which suppressed the kernel's hardlockup report even if the abort was refused.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
