Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An out-of-bounds write occurs in the help init() function when building the letter offsets[] array. The function uses the first byte of each function name as an index via the calculation (start & 31) - 1. If the function names are overridden via sysfs by a user with root privileges using a name that starts with a character outside the [a–z] range, the resulting index can underflow or exceed the array boundaries.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
