Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the crash dump component where the restore dm crypt keys to thread keyring() function incorrectly manages the reference to the user keyring. When restoring multiple dm-crypt keys, the add key to keyring() function drops the keyring reference on every call, leading to a refcount underflow or use-after-free (a condition where a program continues to use a pointer after it has been freed) when more than five keys are restored. Additionally, early error paths following lookup user key() fail to drop the keyring reference.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
