Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the nvme-apple driver where the apple nvme init queue() function initializes queue state and marks the queue as enabled. The interrupt and request paths check the enabled state before utilizing the queue. The use of wmb() after WRITE ONCE(enabled, true) fails to ensure that the initial queue state is published before the enabled flag becomes visible to other paths. This requires the implementation of a release store when enabling the queue and acquire loads when testing it to ensure proper memory ordering.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
