Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the xilinx-trng hardware random number generator where the xtrng readblock32() function fails to properly propagate a timeout when no data has been read. The function polls for 16-byte chunks but may return a zero value upon the first poll timeout, which the caller incorrectly interprets as a short successful read. This can lead to partial reads for 32-byte blocks, causing the tail copy to use a fixed block offset instead of the actual amount of data produced.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
