Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A use-after-free issue exists in the
hwrng register(rng) function. When the function attempts to set the rng to current rng and fails, it returns an error without removing the rng from the global rng list. This creates a dangling reference, which can lead to a use-after-free condition if the caller frees the rng object following the registration failure.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
