Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in optimized uprobes on x86 architecture where the
call instruction used to store the return address on the stack can clobber the redzone area. The redzone is a region of the stack where user code may store temporary data without adjusting the rsp register. To resolve this, optimized uprobes are moved from a 5-byte nop to a 10-byte nop instruction, allowing the insertion of a lea instruction to adjust the rsp register and escape the redzone before the call is executed. This process involves specific transformations within the int3 update optimize() and int3 update unoptimize() functions.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
