Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the Linux kernel regarding the ordering of reference and unreference operations within the
perf/x86/intel/uncore component. In the uncore event cpu online() function, uncore box ref() is called before uncore change context(), causing the box to remain uninitialized when the first CPU in a die comes online. This results in the box->refcnt variable being lower than the actual value. Conversely, in uncore event cpu offline(), uncore box unref() is called after uncore change context(), which prevents the box from being torn down when the collector CPU goes offline.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
