Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the dm-pcache component where the writeback worker follows a persisted dirty tail chain decoded from the cache device. This process occurs independently of the key tail chain that cache replay() validates. A crafted image, using on-media fields authenticated only by a crc32c with a fixed seed, can direct the dirty tail toward a non-terminating chain of last ksets. This causes the cache writeback fn() function to continuously re-arm itself without delay, leading to an infinite loop.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
