Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions WatchDog Anti-Virus version 1.8.640
Description Improper link resolution during the quarantine restoration process on Windows allows a local, low-privileged attacker to write a quarantined file to an arbitrary filesystem location. This is achieved by creating a directory junction—a symbolic link to a directory—at the original file path and persuading an administrator to restore the file. This flaw may lead to the modification of protected files or SYSTEM-level code execution via DLL hijacking, which involves placing a malicious Dynamic Link Library in a location where it will be loaded by a high-privileged process.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
