Description
The
read package field() function in the dpkg utility fails to properly handle NUL terminators when processing malformed .deb packages. This leads to an out-of-bounds heap read, which occurs when the software reads data beyond the intended buffer boundary in the heap memory.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
