Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the sched ext component where the kick sync wait bal cb() function assumes it is executing on the runqueue's (rq) own CPU. Because the dispatch process can drop the rq lock while a callback is queued, other processes—such as the scx task iterator or sched class change paths—may flush pending balance callbacks and execute them on a foreign CPU. This leads to the comparison of unrelated snapshots and can result in a deadlock if the executing CPU is also a wait target.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
