Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A memory barrier issue exists in the nfsd nl rpc status get dumpit() function. The implementation of a seqcount-like protocol lacks a read memory barrier (smp rmb) before the second counter check. On weakly-ordered architectures such as ARM and POWER, the CPU may reorder field reads past this second check. This can cause the retry logic to fail, potentially allowing the system to observe a consistent counter pair while reading data fields that are being concurrently modified by a writer.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
