Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 6.12
Description An issue exists in the memory control group (memcg) v1 soft limit functionality. The soft limit reclaim process allows shrink lruvec() to be executed from kswapd against a specific memcg, which subsequently triggers lru gen shrink lruvec() and set mm walk(). This sequence results in a warning when called from kswapd. To resolve this, the memory.soft limit in bytes interface has been decoupled from its implementation, making it inert by ignoring writes and reporting the maximum value on read.
Recommendations Update to Linux kernel version 6.12 or later.
