Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the arm64 entry code where local irq disable() is called unnecessarily when exiting to kernel mode. This occurs because the preemption logic expects interrupts to be disabled, but in certain contexts, such as the non-NMI EL1 IRQ path el1 irq() or when exiting from an NMI-like context via irqentry exit to kernel mode preempt(), interrupts are already disabled or the call is redundant. This behavior interferes with pNMI state tracking when interrupts are disabled and the GIC PRIO PSR I SET bit is set in the PMR, which can trigger a system warning when CONFIG ARM64 DEBUG PRIORITY MASKING is enabled. The issue is addressed by splitting the arm64 exit to kernel mode() function into preempt, non-preempt, and dispatch components.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
