Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
Improper exception masking in the arm64 hibernate code can lead to system crashes or warnings during the resume process. When a hibernation image is saved via
swsusp arch suspend(), all DAIF exceptions are masked. However, during resume via swsusp arch resume(), only interrupts are masked through local irq disable() in resume target kernel(). This creates two primary issues: first, Debug, SError, or pseudo-NMI exceptions may occur while the kernels are in an inconsistent state and exception vectors are not mapped, resulting in fatal and silent failures. Second, certain DAIF bits remain unexpectedly clear upon re-entering the resumed kernel, allowing these exceptions to be taken before the kernel reaches a consistent state.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
