Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A circular lock dependency exists in the ext4 ext migrate() function. This occurs between s writepages rwsem and sb internal (used for freeze protection), which can lead to a deadlock. The issue arises when iput(tmp inode) is called while holding the s writepages rwsem write lock, while another process performing orphan cleanup during mount may hold sb internal and attempt to acquire the s writepages rwsem read lock.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
