Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the Intel PT (Processor Trace) implementation within the Linux kernel. When pt event stop() is called without the PERF EF UPDATE flag, the perf aux output end() function is not executed. A subsequent call to pt event start() then triggers perf aux output begin(), which violates nesting rules and results in a system warning. This scenario occurs during group throttling, where PMU stop() and start() callbacks are invoked without flags, such as when AUX area sampling is utilized.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
