Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the SMB client where punching a hole after a large buffered write may result in the range being incorrectly reported as data. This occurs because a dirty folio spanning the punched range can be written back after the punch operation, effectively refilling the hole. This behavior causes
SEEK HOLE(0) to return EOF and SEEK DATA(1M) to return 1M instead of correctly identifying the hole.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
