Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An out-of-bounds read issue exists in the wifi cfg80211 component. The functions
cfg80211 rx mlme mgmt() and cfg80211 tx mlme mgmt() fail to properly validate the length of frames relative to their subtype before dispatching them to handlers. Specifically, if a frame is shorter than the expected fixed fields for its subtype, handlers such as cfg80211 process deauth() may attempt to read data beyond the buffer boundary, such as the u.deauth.reason code variable.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
