Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A race condition exists in the SMB client during the creation of the
cifsd demultiplex thread. The cifsd thread may execute and access the tcp ses structure before the parent thread has finished populating it, as the worker thread accesses this structure without locks. Additionally, the kthread run macro might start the thread before returning the thread pointer. If the kernel is preempted after the thread is spawned but before the pointer is populated, and the thread attempts to exit, it will enter a sleep state while waiting for a SIGKILL signal.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
