Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the IPv6 address configuration where the kernel fails to generate temporary privacy addresses (RFC 8981) after a router temporarily deprecates and then restores an IPv6 prefix. This occurs because the address worker increments the
regen count variable when attempting to generate a replacement address while the prefix is deprecated. When the prefix is restored and the existing temporary address eventually expires, the system skips regeneration because it incorrectly perceives that a replacement has already been attempted.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
