Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the
iwlwifi component of the Linux kernel related to Multi-Link Device (MLD) handling. A kernel panic can occur during a reconfiguration failure when a firmware error happens while both BSS and NAN connections are active. The failure sequence involves the ieee80211 handle reconfig failure function marking interfaces as not-in-driver, leading mac80211 to free BSS connection links without notifying the driver. Subsequently, the async handlers wk workqueue processes a statistics notification that dereferences fw id to bss conf[id]. Because this is a dangling pointer to a freed link, the system panics upon accessing the link fields.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
