Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A NULL pointer dereference exists in the
rtw fw adaptivity result() function within fw.c of the rtw88 wifi driver. The issue occurs because devices using the 8821CE chip do not define the edcca th variable in their chip info. When the function attempts to dereference rtwdev->chip->edcca th without a proper check, it triggers a kernel oops, which is a fatal error that causes the system to crash or behave unexpectedly.Recommendations
As a temporary mitigation, restrict the use of the
rtw fw adaptivity result() function or the rtw88 driver on devices using the 8821CE chip until a permanent fix is applied.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability. Found an issue in the description? Have something to add? Feel free to write us 👾
