Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the x86 memory management where Page Table Entries (PTE) are allocated directly during the splitting of a large page via the
split large page() function, bypassing standard allocation routines like pte alloc one kernel(). Consequently, the page table constructor pagetable ctor() and the function folio set pgtable() are not called, and the page table is not marked as a kernel page table through ptdesc set kernel(). This leads to a situation where the IOTLB (Input-Output Translation Lookaside Buffer), a cache used by the IOMMU to speed up virtual-to-physical address translation, can contain stale entries because split page tables are freed without the necessary invalidation process required for kernel page tables.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
