Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the XFS filesystem where the xfs parent da args init() function initializes xfs da args from a zeroed xfs parent args, leaving the args->total variable set to 0. The xfs da grow inode int() function treats this field as a running block reservation and performs a subtraction. Since args->total is an xfs extlen t (an unsigned 32-bit integer), the first attribute fork growth causes the value to wrap around to its maximum possible value. This bypasses the free-space check in xfs alloc space available(). If this occurs in an Allocation Group (AG) with zero available blocks, the allocation is clamped to a maximum length of 0 and returns an -ENOSPC error, which xfs defer finish noroll() then escalates to a full filesystem shutdown.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
