Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A reference count leak occurs in the SMB client within the
cifs queue oplock break() function. The function takes a reference on the target file before queueing cifs oplock break(), but the reference is only decreased by that specific work item. If a subsequent oplock break arrives while the first is still queued, queue work() returns false and the second work item is not queued, causing the reference to be leaked. This issue is typically triggered when interacting with a slow-responding server and can lead to kernel bugs and failures during file system unmount operations due to busy inodes.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
