Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the
bnxt en driver where the queue can stop and fail to restart. This occurs when the driver receives a burst of packets and marks Buffer Descriptors (BD) with the NO CMPL bit to defer completions. In scenarios involving small rings (457 descriptors or fewer), a burst of packets can fill the ring while completions are suppressed. If a subsequent Software User Shared Memory (SW USO) packet arrives but cannot fit due to insufficient available BDs, the USO code exits early. This results in a state where the ring is full of packets with suppressed completions, preventing the queue from restarting. The fix involves tracking the last BD that deferred completions and centralizing the doorbell logic within the bnxt txr db kick() function to ensure the ring always ends with a BD that generates a completion.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
