Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the perf/core component where list corruption can occur. A Performance Monitoring Unit (PMU) uses the
perf sched cb inc() and perf sched cb dec() interface to obtain the pmu::sched task callback function, which is triggered during schedule in and schedule out by traversing the sched cb list. Corruption occurs when ioctl(fd, PERF EVENT IOC REFRESH, xxx) is called and the perf event::event limit reaches zero. This sequence can lead to perf sched cb dec() removing an entry from the sched cb list while the list node is still in use during the execution of perf pmu sched task(), perf pmu sched task(), PMU push sample(), perf event overflow(), perf event overflow(), and pmu->stop().Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
